Business Details
The Russarstegen climbs steeply behind the Gjerdet Cultural Heritage and is the fastest way up to Fjell fortress that the prisoners built during World War II. The trail is today part of the North Sea Trail. You can walk further in the fortress area or take the trip into Fjell festning for a guided tour. Alternatively, you can enjoy a fantastic view while taking a break in the café. After the break, you can continue into the Fjellparken on well-marked paths in many directions.
At the top of the "Russarstegen" one reaches Fjedlafjellet, where a glass pavilion has been erected over the cannon well which housed a gigantic triple cannon. The mountain fortress is preserved as a military cultural monument. You can choose whether you want to go down the Russarstegen again, or take Festningsvegen.
