Life's portal is made by the artist Beate EinenGrana is in the far west of Telavåg, with a view straight to the sea. The trip starts from Telavåg school. Just before the last house, the path goes down to the left, follow the red markers through the forest until you come to a large grassy area. One then passes the popular climbing area "Fiskesleppet". Here you will also find a lavvo and a great area to set up a tent. From here, follow the signs to Granane. Good path in easy terrain. Great rocky cliffs and views of the sea. About the sculpture:
The metal structure is made of corten steel, which is widely used in architecture and decoration. It is extremely strong and the rustic surface does its part to ensure that the sculpture blends in with the environment. The sculpture has 13 glass panels in colored glass where the colors are taken from nature on the location. Mainly blue, brown, green tones, and a couple of panels in pink/purple to represent the heather. The metal structure has been designed by an engineer and is designed to withstand the windy conditions at Grana. The glass is 9 mm. thick and has a protective film on one side to protect the glass in the event of vandalism or extreme weather. The sculpture is not designed to be climbed on.
